Bunko is an offline reader for EPUB, PDF, DOCX, TXT and comic archives. Everything stays on your device. If something is not working, or you have an idea for the app, write to me — I read every message.
EPUB, PDF, DOCX, TXT, XLSX, and ZIP / RAR archives — including comics saved as CBZ or CBR. Bunko does not include a bookstore; it opens files you already have.
Open the Library tab and tap Import, then pick a file from Files or iCloud Drive. You can also share a file to Bunko from another app using the iOS share sheet.
Some EPUB and DOCX files use unusual internal structures, and DRM-protected files (for example books bought from another store) cannot be opened by any third-party reader. Email me the file if you can share it — that is the fastest way to get it supported.
Long-press a passage, drag the handles to adjust the selection, then choose a highlight color or add a note. All of your marks for a book are listed in the reader menu, and tapping one jumps back to that spot in the text.
The free version lets you import 3 books. Bunko Pro removes that limit so you can import as many books as you like. There are no ads in either version.
Open Settings → Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email me and I will sort it out.
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through them: visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
No. Books, reading positions, highlights and notes are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them, so keep your original files somewhere safe. Cross-device sync is on the roadmap.
English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Chinese. Bunko follows your iOS language setting.
Bunko does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no analytics or advertising SDK in the app.
Books and documents you import, along with your reading position, highlights, notes and app settings, are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to me or to anyone else, and I have no way to see them.
If you buy Bunko Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple and validated through RevenueCat, which stores an anonymous purchase identifier so your subscription status can be restored on your devices. This identifier is not linked to your name, email or reading activity. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
Apart from the purchase and restore flow described above, Bunko makes no network requests. The reader works entirely offline.
Bunko does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
